POS Services: Data Destruction
Point of Sale Remarketing Group (POSRG) understands and respects the potential liability issues surrounding the data stored on the used point of sale equipment we purchase. Since some of the hard drives (HDDs) we receive contain sensitive or confidential digital information, we follow a comprehensive protocol to ensure that any and all data is removed and destroyed before it undergoes the refurbishment process.
All HDDs are checked for health using a cutting-edge inspection program. All failing HDDs are shredded, and their corresponding serial numbers are documented. Rather than using more relaxed National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) standards, HDDs that pass the our inspection are wiped using the same 3-pass or 7-pass over-write protocol originally instituted by the Department of Defense (DOD).
When the overwrite process is complete, a log of the entire session is saved and a Certificate of Destruction (COD) is issued to the customer or vendor detailing the method of destruction, the purchase order number and location from which the equipment was received.
If you have a question about our data destruction protocol, please contact POSRG at 866.462.1005.
