POS Standards

POS Standards

For more complex refurbished point of sale equipment like hard drives (HDDs), liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and thermal print heads, POSRG has developed a strict set of internal “ABC” standards designed to optimize hardware quality and performance.

Termed "ABC", these standards ensure optimal:

  • Durability
  • Reliability
  • Functionality
  • Aesthetics

We classify the used point of sale equipment we receive as A, B or C quality. For example, an A-level print head will display a solid black logo with zero lining. A B-level print head will display 1-2 lines, whereas a C-level print head may display 3-5 lines. For used point of sale receipt printers, we carefully examine each print head, removing debris and thoroughly cleaning dirt and ink deposits.

To properly benchmark each HD, our trained technicians use a stethoscope to analyze the decibel level. We also measure weak or corrupt sectors, determine the drive’s age and check the data transfer rate of each drive. To gauge LCD efficacy, we disassemble key components, repair or replace defective elements and reassemble each display. Each LCD must properly illuminate the screen with at least 98 percent of the display’s original brightness level.
